Litter #3 - 4 Weeks

The pups are four weeks old today. They are running, playing, barking and slowly learning the importance of the potty room.
.
This past week they started eating real, big-dog food and at first, they weren't all quite sure what to do with this round bowl of mush. Feeding time is now a frenzy, although they still don't quite understand the water bowl. They dip their nose in, pull it out snorting and snuffing and then walk away, unhappy that they got water up their noses.

Yesterday we piled the pups into a laundry basket and headed to the vet where they always draw a crowd of oohs and aahs.

Each pup got a syringe full of banana tasting de-worming medicine, their second dose.

Blue just hung out, waiting patiently for his turn.

Litter #3 - 2 Weeks

The pups will be two weeks old tomorrow and had their first vet visit today. The de-worming medicine worked wonders on this litter, they were out like a light and I finally got to take some pictures!

Here are our yellow ladies

Some of them are starting to open their eyes a bit and all of them are wobbling and stumbling around. They are slowly transitioning from their squeeking and finding their real voices. Every once in a while we'll hear a high pitched "WOOOOF." These two weeks have been pretty calm, but we expect the action to start picking up real soon!!!

Goodbye Little Champ

We had a rough first couple of days with one of our little pups, a black male who we named Champ. We noticed early on that he was not gaining weight or eating well. With instruction from our vet, we began hand feeding him every hour when he wouldn't nurse on Kora. We also gave saline injections every four hours to keep up his hydration. As hard as we tried to keep him going, he was just too weak to fight and passed on day three. It was a very sad night for us, but we have now turned our focus on other seven little ones who are thriving.
Here is a picture of little Champ with his sisters

Check out this picture ... it doesn't get any cuter than that!!!
